Desmond House Bed & Breakfast, Redding, CA

Originally published, May 20, 2009

Redding California is a beautiful spot and there is a new bed and breakfast in town where travelers can share their experiences. Desmond House Bed & Breakfast is a new addition to the bed and breakfast landscape in Northern California and Innkeeper Greg has opened his house up to the world. While recently traveling around my wife and I connected with Innkeeper Greg and we were able to stay at his lovely house, learn all about the hundred year old property and many of the fine furnishings inside.

Lighting really sets a mood and at the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast the lighting is a part of the program. Innkeeper Greg has antique lighting from a variety of design periods scattered all over the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast. Moreover the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast is littered with wonderful over sized windows which capture an amazing mood of calm synthesis.

Innkeeper Greg is a masseuse in his spare time and the accent pieces found around the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast really lend themselves to the peace and calm of relaxation and meditation. In our room; the Desmond Suite; there is a private bath, queen sized bed, and a flowing waterfall machine which was utterly relaxing and truly mesmerizing.

Another great spot in the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast is the common area; in addition to a variety of seating there are two wonderful chairs facing the front window which looks out to the street. The sunrise and sunset in these chairs is truly breathtaking; depending on the time of year you are there, guests are treated to one of the most relaxing and all natural shows ever created with your front row seats in the front window of the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast.

Sleep at the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast was slumber fit for a king. The relaxing ambiance of the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast transcended into every part of our experience here; including into slumber-land. I awoke feeling energized and rested, hopped into the bath for a great shower, and was ready to start my day while my dear wife still slept!

Breakfast at the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast was light and invigorating. There was fresh coffee and a local assortment of scones from a nearby bakery. The worst thing about visiting a bed and breakfast like the Desmond House is the parting; the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast is one of those places that you could really extend your stay at whether the reason for your stay being local activity; touristing at the Sundial Suspension Bridge or at Redding's famous rodeo; visiting with friends, wedding events, or just passing through, the Desmond House Bed & Breakfast is a great option for a private and enjoyable stay.
