The Newbury Inn, Brookfield, CT

Originally published November 20, 2008

Located in the little town of Brookfield, Connecticut there is a full service luxury hotel hidden away in the woods. The Newbury Inn may be a surprise for some residents of this town because of their low key yet exceptional service.

My wife grew up in Brookfield and I in the adjoining town of Danbury. Danbury has hotels, a mall, a college, a rather bustling down town scene and quite a bit of activity at the lake. Brookfield on the other hand has some new business right off Interstate 84 but for the most part is a family town with a local library, local playhouse, schools, antiquing and plenty of rolling hills for taking a drive through. When I asked my wife if she was aware that there was a hotel in Brookfield she did a double take and said what?

Yes folks, there is the very cute Newbury Inn located on 5 acres of land at 1030 Federal Road in Brookfield just a few minutes up from the Stew Leonard's and all the new furniture stores. The Newbury Inn offers amenities such as complimentary wireless, rooms with a kitchenette for extended stays, Jacuzzi Spa rooms, deluxe rooms with a private patio, 24 hour fax at the front desk, plasma screen televisions, HBO and much more.

The Newbury Inn also offers some great packages for those who wish to escape from the bustling sounds of New York City. There is the Fish, Stay and Play package starting at $85 a night offing you a close proximity to Candlewood Lake and ample room to park your boat. There is the Movie Star Getaway Package starting at $109 a night where you are offered a queen room with two movie tickets, spa treatment kit and spa goodie bag. You could sign up for the See What He See's package where for $575 you spend a weekend in a King suite at night and go out on a series of digital photography workshops with Wally Kolek during the day. There is the Wine Enthusiast package for $149 a night where you get a weekend tour of Digrazia Vineyards and a complimentary bottle of wine. Last, but not least, at the Newbury Inn you could book your Foliage of the Rolling Hills package from October 1st to November 30th where for $325 you get a two night stay, light packed picnic and $30 gift certificate to the Bridgewater Country Store.

The Newbury Inn has the above hotel packages at their site and then teams up with the Heritage Inn to offer you even more! There is the Litchfield County Antique Tour for $199 a night where you get a two night accommodation in a king suite, map of all the antique stores in the area and discounts to local antique stores and restaurants. You could also book the Cooking School package at the Heritage Inn where for $499 per weekend stay you get two nights, cooking class and a fresh made New England style breakfast.

My wife was amazed when we found out the Newbury Inn was in her hometown and had so much to offer. Let yourself be amazed for a night or a weekend by planning your trip today!
